The Persimmon Collective Fund (PCF) invites applications for $10,000 in funding to support BIPOC farmers.
Persimmon Collective Fund is excited to announce the opening of our second cycle of BIPOC Farmer Grants. Last year we awarded thirty-five $10,000 grants to BIPOC farmers in NC, SC, GA and VA.
The PCF's values focus on land and food justice, the importance of deep relationships in agrarian work, collective work and collective harvest integrated into community care, and sees farm and land based operations as part of a broader food systems strategy.
This grant prioritizes projects that demonstrate values around the importance of:
Land and food justice
Deep relationships within agrarian work
Collective work and collective harvest integrated into community care
Honoring heritage and cultural practices, and
Farm and land based operations as part of a broader food systems strategy.
Eligibility:
BIPOC (Black-Indigenous-People of Color) Farmer
Must be located in North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia
Must be currently farming and for at least 2 years
Funding
PCF Individual Farmer grantees will receive $10,000 in funding to support their farmer operations.

Key Dates and Application Deadline:
The deadline for submitting applications is February 15, 2024. Grant recipients will be notified in mid to late March 2024.
Application Review:
Applications will be reviewed by a farmer review team and the Persimmon Collective Team. Click HERE to preview the application before entering responses on the Google Form.

Submission Options (VIDEO or WRITTEN):
In lieu of submitting your application in this form, you may opt to submit a video recorded application. For video submission, you must 1) answer ALL questions included in this online form; 2) Limit your video to 5 minutes; 3) Your budget should be uploaded via the Google application form.
Proposal Summary:
Applicants will be asked to submit a simple proposal (2-3 paragraphs) of the identified need and plan to use the funding, and description of anticipated impact. You will not be required to submit any formal reporting regarding funding. However, we would love to share in your journey with this funding in whatever way is relational, helpful and collaborative.
Reporting:
Rather than “reporting”, we ask that you share with us generally how the funds were used, and how it impacted your farm operation. This information will be used by the PCF and Advisors to attain greater insight as to actual funding and other needs, PCF budgeting & operations analysis, to inform our ongoing fundraising, and for chronicling / storytelling around our work together.
Proposal Budget:
Please give a basic outline of your project budget and a brief timeline of when and how you will use funds. Please download a budget template HERE. Please SAVE A COPY before downloading the template.
Supporting Attachments:
Please provide a photo of yourself, preferable on your farm. Additionally, if you have attachments of quotes, plan designs, feel free to attach them. There will be three spots available to attach documents.
